Happy Kidney Day!

A year ago today our family experienced an incredible miracle when Cason received a new kidney from Nona. In a sense it seems like yesterday and in another it feels like an eternity ago. Our sweet little man has been through so much during his two-and-a-half years, but January 5, 2009 was truly a turning point for him. He has inspired so many people with his strong spirit and sweet smile and we thank God for his life and the opportunity to be his parents. He has continually amazed us with his toughness through difficult situations, enduring more hospital stays, needle pricks, surgeries, medicines and illnesses in his couple of years than most of us will face in a lifetime. Cason smiled and waved as the nurses took him back for his transplant and he hardly cried after the surgery. He charmed the ICU nurses with his contagious laugh and he walked down the hallways of Egleston four days post-op. We are so incredibly proud of Cason and can't wait to see all that the Lord has in store for his life.

Thanks to all of you for your prayers, words and acts of encouragement during all of this. God has given us an indescribable peace and we know that it is, at least in part, due to the thousands of prayers that have been voiced on our behalf.

We are eternally grateful to Nona for her gift of life and sacrifice that she made so that Cason can live each day to its fullest. It's been neat to see the special bond between them grow over the past year; it's like Cason knows that there's a part of Nona inside of him. We won't write a long, gushing tribute to her because it would embarrass her, but we want her and all of you to know how indescribably thankful we are to her.

To God be the Glory!

Happy Kidney Day Cason! Logey hit 4 months yesterday. It's amazing the difference a kidney makes. Thank God for kidney donors both live and deceased. Coincidentally, Logey was up walking 4 days post transplant as well. Little ones are so resilient.
