Happy Mothers Day!!!

Yesterday was a special Mother's Day! My boys picked out a pretty pink dress for me and we enjoyed spending the day together and having B.G.'s family over for dinner. The day was really emotional for me. I miss my mom a bunch and Mother's Day will probably always be tough for me to get through. I miss her phone calls, shopping with her, spending lazy days together, taking walks and getting lots of advice on everything. She was an amazing lady who taught me how to live life faithfully and to always push on, knowing that "God's got it". I wish she was here to see how big our sweet boys are and to give them lots more "apple pie kisses"! It's exciting to know that we'll see her again in Heaven one day!

COTA for Cason

As you can see we had a couple of COTA events last week to spread the word about the upcoming golf tournament. We've had several more teams sign up so we're optimistic that it's going to be a success, just like last year! We still have a few team slots available, so sign up!! It's going to be a ton of fun!

COTA for Cason

Here is a quick note from Angela Matson, our COTA for Cason campaign coordinator:

Hi!! My name is Angela Matson and I am the campaign coordinator for Cason and his family through the Children's Organ Transplant Association. As you have probably heard, Cason is home from the hospital! Praise the Lord! We are all thrilled and hope that he can stay home for a long time!

I wanted to remind you all about about the COTA for Cason golf tournament coming up on May 30th. This Saturday (5/9) is the final day for the "Early Bird Special" ($240 per team) so give me a call and sign up! You can still sign up after Saturday but the price per team will go up to $300. Still not a bad deal!! Remember, 100% of the funds go to Cason's COTA campaign!

Tomorrow night from 5:30 to 8:00 we will have a COTA for Cason booth at the Taste of Thomaston festival. Come out for some free Chick-fil-a lemonade and support Cason's campaign!!

The Blakelys are so blessed to have you all as faithful friends, family and prayer warriors! Thanks for your support!

Hey Everyone-
Just wanted to let you know that we got home from the hospital last night! It is so nice to be home with the whole family. Cason had labs drawn this morning and everything is still looking good. Praise the Lord! We will repeat his blood work every few days until we return to Egleston for clinic next Thursday. Thanks for all of your prayers.

Cason Update 5/2/09

Hey Everyone!

Just wanted to give a quick update of what is going on with Cason. On Thursday morning they removed his infected port line and feel confident that they have removed all of the bacterial infection. Since this type of infection has disrupted his GI track so much Cason's electrolytes and levels have been out of range. The doctors have been running lots of test and hopefully soon we will know exactly whats going on. Right now they think that Cason has RTA (renal tubular acidosis) which means that his kidneys are not filtering correctly and is causing his blood to be too acidic. This can be caused by his primary anti rejection med (Prograf) and can hopefully be fixed by taking another medication. Our doctors want to watch him for at least two days to see how this med works. So it will be at least Monday at the earliest before we get home. We covet your prayers as we are all tired and ready to be home together.

Thanks!
B.G. and Tricia
