Mono...again

I thought that we had escaped the whole mono deal without too much issue, but we just found out today that Cason has come down with it. As it turns out, when babies have the virus they usually just look and act like they have a cold and that's pretty much the deal with him.

Unfortunately some blood work also showed that Cason's BUN level is sky high (his level is 130 and normal is under 20), which means that he is very dehydrated and our new fluid plan is not working. It's crazy because he looks and acts like nothing in the world is wrong, which is great, but it makes it tough for us to know when something's going on.

He is motoring around like a champ and he is into everything! He is much more mischievous than Jackson and he will disappear in a second if we take our eyes off of him. The other day we were all playing outside and we looked around and couldn't find him. It took a minute, but we found him sitting straight up underneath our van, just hanging out! He had chased after a ball and decided that it was a cool place to be so he just stayed there.

So...we aren't really sure how the mono is going to affect the whole transplant deal at this point. We do know that he can't have the surgery until it's gone, so please pray that it will leave quickly! Pray, too, that after the mono is gone we are able to keep him healthy. We are definitely going to have to start being a bit more cautious and germ-a-phobic, especially as we move into cold and flu season. We have never been ones to carry tons of alcohol gel around and freak out when our boys drink out of someone else's cup, but I guess that we'll have to be more careful.

Sorry for the long post. We'll let you know what we find out.
