Yesterday we celebrated five years of marriage and, in true Blakely form, it was a doozy of a day...
Nona and Papa kept the boys for two nights, which was really nice. We slept in a bit on Friday then got up and did a little Christmas shopping. For dinner we went to a Japanese restaurant that some friends recommended for some sushi and hibachi. We actually got to talk to each other without having to catch flying food or referee two little knuckleheads. What a novel experience!
After dinner we had surprise tickets from Nona and Papa to see the Nutcracker at the Fox. It was a great way to end a fun day...until we walked to our van after the show and realized that the driver's side window had been smashed. There was glass all over the inside and outside of the van and our GPS had been stolen from the front windshield. Bummer. After calling 911 we waited about an hour and a half until a cop showed up. It was drizzling and pretty chilly while we were standing there, but the ride home took it to a new level. There's nothing more romantic than driving almost two hours in 37 degree weather with no driver's side window!
Some of you may remember that last year, while in Atlanta for our anniversary, we were rear-ended by a nervous attorney who had obviously had a drink or two before leaving his office. We have decided that next year we are going to just grab a couple of cheeseburgers deluxe from Piggy Park, go back home, and just sit on the couch until the 18th is over...just to be safe.
