Jackson's 1st game with the Rays

We are so proud of our big boy!
Go Rays!!!

Jackson's New Cast

Jackson was pretty bummed for the first couple of days after breaking his leg. He is so active that it's been tough not being able to move around like he normally does. On Friday we picked up a wheelchair for him and he got his new cast which gave him some new life. His pain has gotten much less and he is having fun motoring around in his chair. He is still reluctant to try the walker, but we will see if we can get him more confident this week. Jackson will have the cast for 3 1/2 weeks then we will go back and have another x-ray. If the bone has sufficient growth then he will get a walking boot. Please pray that he heals quickly and that he can get back to being his regular, hyper-active self soon.

Crazy Week Update

We took Jackson to a pediatric orthopedist on Tuesday, thinking that he would get his splint removed and a new cast put on. Unfortunately there was still too much swelling in his leg, so we will go back tomorrow afternoon. Jackson's cast will go from his mid thigh to his foot and he will not be able to bear weight on the leg for at least four weeks. Bummer!! He will use a walker around the house and we have ordered a wheelchair with a support for his leg. I think he'll enjoy using these once he gets over the fear of getting up on his own.

Nona has stayed with the boys the past two days since Tricia has been in the hospital. We've given her a heck of a challenge with Jackson having to be carried around everywhere, but she has been amazing. In typical grandmotherly fashion, she came over on Tuesday night armed with all kinds of crafts and toys that Jackson can play without having to stand or move around. She has been running Cason to and from preschool and will drop them off with Big Daddy and Gigi for the weekend. They are both so excited and I know that they will have tons of fun, as usual. We are so thankful for awesome grandparents for our boys!

Tricia is doing very well after her hernia surgery yesterday. She has been in a good bit of pain, but she is definitely getting better as time goes by. We got to spend some time with the doctor this morning and it was neat listening to him talk about the procedure. He patched her hernia with a mesh made from the lining of a cow's heart, which is pretty wild. Over time her tissues will grow into the mesh and will be strong enough for her to return to all of her normal activities. I was pretty blown away by that. It sounds like the hernia was pretty big and it was definitely time to patch it up. Tricia will almost definitely be discharged tomorrow. We'll run to Atlanta, get a new cast, then head home and get some rest!!

I know that lots of you have been praying for us this week and we appreciate you all so much. Thanks, too, for all of the visits, meals, flowers, etc. We love yall!

Crazy Week

Hey Everybody,

We want to ask for your prayers for our family this week. Some of you know already that Jackson fell yesterday while skimboarding down the hill in our back yard and broke his left lower leg. He has a long leg splint on right now and will hopefully get a full cast tomorrow. We're meeting with the pediatric orthopedist around 2:15 tomorrow. He has been in lots of pain and hasn't felt up to walking yet, so please pray that he heals quickly, sleeps well , walks soon and has as little pain as possible.

And just to keep things interesting, Tricia is having surgery on Wednesday to repair a hernia that has developed in an old incision from her GI surgeries from several years ago. She has been having problems over the past two or three months and the doctors feel that this should solve most of her issues. They're thinking that she'll be in the hospital for a couple of nights, so please pray that the surgery is successful and that she will heal quickly without too much pain.

We appreciate all of our Thomaston friends who have helped us out over the past few days as well as our amazing family who step in, without fail, every time we are in need. All of the emails, calls, texts and Facebook messages mean a lot, too, so thank you! We'll keep you updated on everyone's progress.
