Strike!

Tonight Big Daddy and Gigi sat with Cason so that we could spend some time with Jackson. We had lots of fun! We had dinner and then took him bowling. It was his first time and he really enjoyed it. He has such determination and drive that he wants to go again tomorrow so that he can get a better score. He did score several spares and on his last turn he got a STRIKE!!! We were all so excited! It was great to have such a fun night together.

So Excited!!! I love his little dance :)

Ahh Man!

Heres the plan.....

Here's the latest on Cason:
The second culture taken from his port has started to grow the same bacteria as the first, so Cason will likely have it removed (hopefully tomorrow, but we're not sure yet). The doctor originally wanted him to finish his antibiotic over the next couple of days, go home, then return next week to remove the port and put in a new one. After some discussion we decided that it is worth a try to remove the port and leave it out. At this point he is only having blood taken once a week, so hopefully we can get rid of the port for good!

Also, Cason has finally been cleared to leave his room! B.G. and Jackson came up this morning and we spent some time in a play group and then outside with some new friends. It has been a long couple of days confined to the room, so we are excited to finally be able to move around a little.

We have to do a 24 hour urine test, an ultrasound and the Port removal procedure before we go home, so we're not really sure when that will happen. Hopefully soon...

Painting outside on Saturday before we came in.
Painting Gigi's birthday card.
Playing outside in the courtyard.

So happy to see my brother.
Having fun at Music class.
It was "baby massage" time. Jackson did my feet. It was great!

We're back!

Just a quick note to ask for your prayers for Cason. He had a stomach bug (we think) over the weekend, so we did some blood work at Upson Regional yesterday afternoon. The results showed that he was very dehydrated so we took him to Egleston last night on the advice of our pediatrician. We were hoping that he could just get a night's worth of IV fluids and come home today, but it looks like he may be there for a while. A culture taken from his port line is already growing some sort of staph infection which is a little scary. We are praying that this is simply a contaminant because, if it is an accurate culture, he will have to remain in his room to prevent the spread of the infection. Obviously this makes for long days in the hospital...

We rejoice in the fact that this is his first hospital stay since transplant and we're hoping that we'll be able to get him home quickly. Thanks for your prayers.

Here we go.......

Last night Cason was admitted to Egleston. A stomach virus has him dehydrated and his blood work is all out of whack. Hopefully we can get his fluids replaced and discover the best way to keep his values looking good. Please keep him and us in your prayers. Jackson is staying with Big Daddy and Gigi and I know that he will have lots of fun! We are so thankful that Cason has been feeling so good. (before this) It has been 3 months since being in the hospital, which is our longest stretch ever. Hopefully, this will be a short stay and we will be getting out of here soon.

Great news!!

We wanted to share with you all that we heard from Egleston today about Cason's biopsy results and everything looks great! Obviously we are thrilled and extremely thankful! We didn't get many specific details about the test, but all that we really need to know is that his new kidney healthy. Praise the Lord!!

Overall Cason is doing fantastic, so this good news is icing on the cake. He is talking like crazy and has started to put words together into short sentences. He loves to play ball just like his big brother, especially golf, and he is enjoying coloring and doing crafty things with Tricia during the day while Jackson is at school. We are so incredibly thankful for his energetic, mischecious personality!

Jackson is finishing out his first year at Lu's Learning center, which has been a great experience for him. We are still trying to decide where to send him next year...He still loves tee ball and is getting fired up about opening the pool next month. Nearly every day he asks, "Is it May yet? I'm ready to swim in the pool!".

We are in the middle of planning our second annual COTA for Cason golf tournament on May 30th. We've already had several teams sign up and we have a couple of hole sponsors lined up. Please let us know if you want to play, donate money/prizes, volunteer or sponsor the tournament. It was a blast last year and this year should be even better!

We love you guys!!

Praise the Lord!

Great news! Biopsy showed that Cason's kidney has no signs of rejection. Thanks so much for your prayers. God is so good!

Go Braves!!!

Cason had his biopsy yesterday and then we went to the Braves game. It was transplant night at the Turner Field. It was lots of fun! Cason was picked with another little boy as one to go down into the dugout while they interviewed the players. Then we had a picnic, pictures with the players, and walked around the field before the game. It was a very special day. We all had such a great time.
