Back again...

Waiting on my new room.............................
Well. You won't believe it, but Cason is back in the hospital. As it turns out, in addition to the bacteria growing in his central line, there is also yeast growing. Pretty nasty. This means that we will have to remove the line, which will hopefully happen tomorrow. The next day he will likely get a PICC line. We are going to try a different routine with the fluids that we give him at home to see if he can stay hydrated with IV fluids once every 3 nights instead of every night, like we do now. If he tolerates this then he will get a port, which he will need for about a year after transplant.

So...this may be a long stay at Scottish Rite, but we're not really sure yet. Cason will have the procedure to remove his central line tomorrow and he will also have an Echocardiogram to make sure that the yeast has not invaded his heart valves. Please pray that these procedures go well. He is still feeling great, which is a blessing. He charms everyone in the hospital every time that we're up there and we've got lots of doctors and nurses that know us by now, so they always make us feel special when we're there.

We'll keep you posted.

Cason's walking!

Cason has started walking! He took a couple of steps to his Aunt Ashley a few weeks ago but tonight he has really started to go. Sorry about the sideways video. We still haven't figured out how to rotate the picture.

He was discharged from Scottish Rite this afternoon, so he must just be excited to be home!

It was good while it lasted...

Well we've had a great month or so, but Cason is back at Scottish Rite. He has had a rough 4 or 5 nights, coughing and gagging quite a bit and not sleeping very much. He has been great during the day, so we didn't really know what was going on, but he had a blood culture come back positive for a central line infection. He went in on Friday and we're not sure when he'll come home, but it's usually at least 3 or 4 days. We'll see.

We were talking the other day about how thankful we are to have had such a long stretch at home without any major issues or illnesses. We have been having so much fun as a family and we praise the Lord for that. Hopefully we can get Cason past this infection quickly.

Exciting News!

Yesterday we heard from the insurance company that we are now approved for the kidney transplant. On October 7th we are scheduled to spend the day at Egleston meeting the transplant team and starting the donor process. We are totally thrilled that this date is finally set. Please pray that our donor will stay healthy and that we will find a match in our first round of testing.

Dancing! Dancing!

It has been so much fun being home and being normal for a while. Thursday we went uptown to the Taste of Thomaston. We had a great time eating, visiting with everyone and watching Jackson and his buddy Jackson Wells dancing in front of the courthouse. Saturday we celebrated a friend, Angela's, 40th birthday. Jackson was thrilled because there was dancing here too! He really had a great time at this party. Today we got together with my family on the 1 year anniversary of my moms death. The cousins all really enjoyed each other and it was great being with my brother, sister and their families.

We went to the Wild Animal Safari in Pine Mountain today. If you like getting drooled on by exotic animals then it's the place for you! As you can see we had lots of fun.

Go Dawgs and Mono

We had a fun Saturday watching the Dawgs with Nona, Papa, and Ashley. We started off the morning reading Green Eggs and Ham, so Jackson had a great idea to make some colored eggs of our own. He decided on blue eggs instead of green and as you can see the were looking pretty nasty, but he ate them up!

Some extra excitement for the week is that BG has Mono. Yes, i know it is kinda funny! He seems to be feeling a lot better so hopefully none of us will get it.

We heard from the transplant Coordinator this week and the paperwork is moving forward. Please continue to pray for a family donor to match. We are excitied, but nervous about moving forward. We get anxious sometimes about thinking about the pain of surgery and recovery for Cason. We know that the Lord is in control and will provide the comfort that we all need, but it is still our little buddy.....so it is tough.

Thanks for reading and praying. We hope that everyone is doing good and having a great weekend.

Fun Weekend

Here are a couple videos from the weekend of Jackson and Daddy playing golf and Cason learning to walk ( Sorry Cason's video is sideways, we can't figure out how to rotate it). We have had a lot of fun. The boys are both feeling great! Thanks for your prayers.

Chattanooga, etc.

We had a great time in Chattanooga with the Blakelys (minus Ashley). We went to a minor league baseball game where Jackson got a ball from a "real baseball player" (in his own words), went to a great children's museum where both boys had lots of fun, went to a park and just enjoyed hanging out with our family. It was really good to get away for the weekend.

Cason had a bit of a tough time last Thursday following his procedure, mostly as a result of difficulty bouncing back from anesthesia, but he is doing really well now. His numbers look great from the blood work today, so it is obviously just a matter of keeping him hydrated.

Jackson got his PICC line out today, so praise the Lord! Please just pray that we can put the infections to rest and that Cason's line will stay infection free as well. Jackson is starting preschool at Lu's Learning Center in Thomaston tomorrow and he is really excited. We went and met his teacher and looked at his classroom last week and it is going to be a great experience for him. We're excited too!
